Your Cascadia's engine needs clean air — a lot of it. A Detroit DD15 at full load pulls thousands of cubic feet of air per minute through the intake system. Every particle of dust, sand, and road debris that gets past the air filter goes straight into the turbocharger and then the engine — scoring turbo compressor wheels, abrading cylinder liners, and contaminating oil. A $79 air filter protects a $30,000+ engine. This is the cheapest insurance you can buy for your truck.
This is a direct drop-in replacement air filter for the 2018 and newer Freightliner Cascadia (PT-116, PT-126) equipped with Detroit DD13, DD15, DD16, or Cummins X15 engines. Engineered with high-density honeycomb (fluted) filtration media that matches the OEM specification for airflow capacity and filtration efficiency. Replaces Freightliner part number 03-42776-010 (also listed as 0342776010).
This filter fits the "New Generation" Freightliner Cascadia built in model year 2018 and newer. It does NOT fit older Cascadia models (2008–2017). The older Cascadia uses a completely different, much rounder filter element with different dimensions and a different housing. Using the wrong filter will result in either a filter that doesn't physically fit, or one that leaves gaps allowing unfiltered air into the engine.
If you're unsure which Cascadia generation you have, check the model year on the door sticker or the VIN. The New Generation Cascadia has a distinctive restyled front end introduced in 2018. Contact us with your VIN if unsure.
Not all air filters are created equal. The engine air intake on a Class 8 truck creates significant vacuum — especially at full load, high RPM, or high altitude. The filter media must be rigid enough to resist collapsing under this vacuum while still allowing maximum airflow. This filter uses dense, honeycomb (fluted) media:
Air filters are a recurring maintenance item — every truck in your fleet needs a new one every 30,000 to 50,000 miles depending on operating conditions. At $79 per filter vs $116–$135 from competitors (or $165–$205 from the dealer), the savings scale fast:

This filter directly replaces or cross-references the following part numbers from major filtration manufacturers:
All of the above part numbers are the same physical filter in different branded packaging. If your parts catalog calls out any of these numbers, this filter fits.
This air filter fits the following Freightliner models (2018 and newer only):
⚠️ 2018 and NEWER Cascadia ONLY. Does NOT fit 2008–2017 Cascadia models, Columbia, or Century trucks. These use different filter elements. Contact us with your truck VIN if unsure.
Can I clean and reuse this filter?
No. This is a disposable filter element — it is not designed to be cleaned, blown out, or washed. Attempting to clean a honeycomb filter damages the media structure and can create holes that allow unfiltered air into the engine. Always replace with a new filter.
What happens if I run the truck with a restricted filter?
A restricted filter reduces airflow to the engine. The immediate effects are: reduced power, increased fuel consumption, higher exhaust gas temperatures (EGT), and potential turbocharger surge. Running a severely restricted filter for an extended period can cause turbo bearing failure, excessive DPF regeneration, and increased oil consumption due to elevated crankcase pressure.
Is this filter as good as the Donaldson P628541?
This filter is built to the same specification — same dimensions, same media type and density, same filtration efficiency rating. The difference is the label on the box, not the performance of the filter. Donaldson P628541, Fleetguard AF27879, and this filter all meet or exceed the Detroit/Freightliner OEM filtration specification for the New Generation Cascadia.
I run my truck on dusty construction roads. How often should I change the filter?
In dusty operating conditions, check the restriction indicator frequently and expect to replace the filter every 15,000 to 25,000 miles instead of the standard 30,000–50,000 mile highway interval. Dusty environments are the single biggest factor in shortened filter life. Keeping a spare filter in the truck or on the service trailer is a smart practice.
My truck has a pre-cleaner. Do I still need to change the filter as often?
A pre-cleaner extends filter life by removing the largest particles before they hit the filter, but the primary filter still needs regular replacement. Check the restriction gauge — the pre-cleaner buys you extra miles, but not extra forever. The filter still loads up over time.
