Your boom lift is down because the joystick is dead. The rental yard needs it back yesterday. This is a direct plug-and-play replacement joystick for Genie S-Series and Z-Series boom lifts — calibrated and ready to install. No laptop, no programming, no dealer visit required. Replaces Genie part numbers 101174, 101174GT, and 62390.
Genie boom lifts are the most rented aerial platforms in the world — and renters are hard on them. The joystick controller takes constant abuse: rain, dust, impacts, and thousands of hours of operation. When the joystick fails, the boom won't lift, won't swing, or drifts on its own. The machine is dead weight. The dealer wants $350–$500 and a week lead time for what is essentially a hall-effect controller.
This is a brand new, OEM-specification dual axis joystick controller. It's the same hall-effect design as the factory unit — same connector, same mounting, same calibration. Unplug the old joystick, plug in this one, and you're back in the air. Replaces Genie 101174 (current), 101174GT, and the older 62390.
The 101174 joystick fits the following Genie aerial platforms:
If your Genie boom lift uses a dual-axis joystick with a Deutsch connector and your parts manual references 101174, 101174GT, or 62390, this is the correct replacement. Look for the rocker switch on top of the joystick — that confirms the dual-axis steering configuration.
Replacing the 101174 joystick takes about 15 minutes:
Will this work without reprogramming the machine?
Yes. This joystick is pre-calibrated and uses the same hall-effect output signal as the OEM Genie unit. It is a true plug-and-play replacement. No laptop, no Genie diagnostic software, and no dealer visit required. Plug it in, test it, and you're done.
Does this replace the 101174GT and 62390?
Yes. Part number 101174 supersedes both 101174GT and the older 62390. They are the same joystick with the same connector and mounting pattern. If your parts book shows any of these three numbers, this is the correct replacement.
What are the symptoms of a failing joystick?
Common symptoms include: boom won't respond to joystick input, boom drifts on its own when the joystick is centered, erratic or jerky boom movement, intermittent loss of function (works sometimes, doesn't other times), or error codes related to the joystick or controller. If the machine has been in rental service and has high hours, the joystick is a very common failure point.
I manage a rental fleet — do you offer volume pricing?
Yes. Contact us for fleet and volume pricing. If you manage a fleet of Genie lifts, you know these joysticks are a recurring maintenance item. We can set up standing inventory at a fleet discount to keep your downtime to zero.
