Your Fuchs material handler's grapple cylinder is leaking — hydraulic oil is running down the barrel, puddling on the ground under the grapple, and your operators are losing clamp force on every grab. In a scrap yard running 10-hour shifts, a leaking grapple cylinder doesn't just cost you oil — it costs you tonnage. Every failed grab, every dropped load, every time the operator has to re-pick a bundle is lost production. The competitors want $99 to $113 for this seal kit.
We sell it for $79.00 — the cheapest in-stock option on the internet. This is a complete gland and piston seal kit containing every seal required to rebuild your Fuchs grapple cylinder. Built with upgraded polyurethane and PTFE compounds engineered to survive the 5,000 PSI shock loads and abrasive contamination of scrap yard hydraulic systems. Replaces Fuchs / Terex part number 1976999322 (also listed as BMF-1976999322).
This is a complete seal kit — everything you need to fully rebuild the gland and piston sealing surfaces of the cylinder:
All seals are sized for the 70mm bore / 50mm rod cylinder specification. No guessing, no measuring, no ordering individual seals.
Standard hydraulic seals fail quickly in scrap yard applications. Here's why, and why this kit is different:
This seal kit fits Fuchs grapple cylinders 6502147100 and 5362670010. These cylinders are used on HDMS 0,4, 0,6, and most 0,8 cubic meter scrap grapples on the MHL331 and MHL350.
However: Some 0,8 cubic meter grapples were equipped with an alternative cylinder — part number 5577661352 — which requires a different seal kit. Before ordering, check the tag on your cylinder barrel to confirm the cylinder part number.
The cylinder part number is stamped or printed on a tag on the cylinder barrel. If you can't read the tag, contact us with your machine model, serial number, and grapple size — we'll confirm which kit you need.
This seal kit fits the grapple cylinders on the following Fuchs / Terex material handlers:
⚠️ Always verify the cylinder part number on the barrel tag before ordering. Contact us with your machine model and serial number if unsure.
How do I know if I need a seal kit vs a new cylinder?
If the cylinder barrel bore is smooth and the rod chrome is intact (no scoring, pitting, or peeling), a seal kit will fully restore the cylinder. If the bore is scored or the rod chrome is damaged, new seals will leak against the damaged surfaces and you'll need a cylinder repair or replacement.
Should I replace the guide gland/bushing at the same time?
If the seal kit has failed badly enough to leak externally, the internal guide gland bushing (Fuchs Part 0502147017) is likely worn as well. A worn bushing allows the rod to move side-to-side, which accelerates seal wear and causes premature failure of the new seals. We recommend inspecting the bushing and replacing it if excessive rod play is present.
How long does the seal replacement take?
For an experienced hydraulic technician, a grapple cylinder reseal is typically a 2-4 hour job per cylinder — including removal, disassembly, seal replacement, reassembly, and reinstallation. Having the correct seal kit on hand before starting eliminates downtime waiting for parts.
Does the cylinder stroke (335mm) matter for the seal kit?
No. The seal kit is determined by the bore diameter (70mm) and rod diameter (50mm). The stroke length confirms you have the correct cylinder model but does not affect which seals are needed.
