Your crane hoist is dead — the motor quit, it's running slow, or the brushes are gone. The Auto Crane dealer wants $487–$550 for a replacement motor and a week lead time. Your service truck is parked on a job site with a crane that can't lift. Every hour it sits is revenue lost.
We sell the direct replacement hoist motor for $389 — saving you $100–$160+ vs the dealer. This is a high torque, 12 Volt motor sized for the Ramsey DC-200 winch used in Auto Crane 3203, 3203PR, and 4004 series hoists. It is the same specification motor — same voltage, same rotation, same mounting bolt pattern. Replaces Auto Crane part numbers 262037 and 262035.
This motor arrives with a standard 3/4" keyed shaft. Auto Crane uses a splined coupler adapter pressed onto the motor shaft to mate with the winch drum. That coupler is NOT included with this motor — you must transfer the splined coupler from your old motor. This is a simple press-fit removal and reinstall.
Additionally, this motor has threaded mounting holes instead of studs. You must transfer the mounting studs from your old motor casing. Use a double-nut method to unscrew them from the old motor and thread them into the new one.
Both transfers take about 15 minutes with basic hand tools. If you're comfortable turning wrenches, this is straightforward. If you're not sure, any truck mechanic or crane service tech can do this in minutes.
The 262037 / 262035 hoist motor fits the following Auto Crane models with Ramsey DC-200 winches:
⚠️ Verify your Auto Crane part number (262037 or 262035) in your service manual or on the data plate of the existing motor before ordering. The DC-200 winch is the most common hoist on these models, but some configurations may use a different winch — contact us with your crane model and serial number to confirm.
This is a builder-grade install. You're reusing two parts from your old motor to make this one fit the Auto Crane hoist assembly. Here's the process:
Why do I need to transfer the splined coupler?
The splined coupler is a proprietary adapter that mates the motor shaft to the Ramsey DC-200 winch drum gear. It is pressed onto the original motor's keyed shaft at the factory. Aftermarket replacement motors come with a standard 3/4" keyed shaft without the coupler. Transferring it from your old motor is the only way to make the motor fit the winch. It's a simple press-off / press-on operation.
Why do I need to transfer the mounting studs?
The original motor has studs permanently pressed into the motor casing. The replacement motor has threaded holes instead. The studs from your old motor thread directly into these holes. Use a double-nut to unscrew them from the old casing and thread them into the new motor's holes. Takes about 5 minutes.
Is this motor as good as the OEM motor?
This motor is rated for higher torque output than the stock OEM unit, meaning faster line speed and less stalling under load. It uses heavy-duty brushes designed for continuous operation. Many service crane operators report improved hoist performance after switching to this motor.
Will this fit my Auto Crane if I don't know the winch model?
Most Auto Crane 3203 and 4004 series cranes use the Ramsey DC-200 winch. Check the data plate on the winch housing — if it says "Ramsey" and "DC-200," this is the correct motor. If you're unsure, contact us with your Auto Crane model and serial number and we'll confirm fitment.
Can a mechanic install this for me?
Yes. Any truck service mechanic, crane service tech, or mobile hydraulic technician can install this motor. The coupler transfer and stud transfer take about 15 minutes total. The motor swap itself is another 15–20 minutes. Total job: under an hour.
