Is this a spin-on filter or a cartridge element?
This is a cartridge element — it slides into a filter housing. It is NOT a spin-on filter with threads. The element is 2" in diameter and about 8-1/4" long. If your machine uses a threaded spin-on hydraulic filter, this is not the correct part.
Can I reuse or clean this filter?
No. Hydraulic filter elements are not cleanable or reusable. The glass media captures particles within the filter material itself — blowing it out with compressed air or washing it does not remove embedded contamination. Always install a new element at each service interval.
How do I know when the filter needs changing?
Follow the service intervals in your operator's manual (typically 500 hours). If your machine has a filter bypass indicator, a lit indicator means the filter is clogged and oil is bypassing — change it immediately. If hydraulic performance feels reduced, the oil temperature is elevated, or the oil looks contaminated, change the filter regardless of hours.
Do I need to change the hydraulic oil when I change this filter?
